Resonance of Beijing: The Breathing City is an audiovisual artwork developed from field recordings collected across Beijing at different times of day and from various urban environments. The project explores the city through sound, atmosphere, and temporal resonance rather than through conventional narrative structure.
At the symbolic center of the work is an ancient tree in Jingshan Park, serving as a silent witness to memory, continuity, and transformation across generations. The visual layer was developed through AI-generated imagery based on initial sketches and compositional studies of the tree, expanding into atmospheric interpretations of Beijing’s urban landscape.
By combining documentary sound recordings with constructed visual environments, the work reflects on the relationship between place, memory, and imagination, inviting audiences to experience the city as a living and breathing presence through listening and moving image.
Resonance of Beijing: The Breathing City is a part of The Corridor of Infinite Scenes: Digital Arts of Living Pigments Exhibition at the Summer Palace (颐和园), Beijing, China, presented as part of the Exhibition of ASEAN International Joint Teaching Achievements. November 2–5, 2025.
